Newbie installing Linux on a Acer Aspire 5610z?

My internet connection thats just one problem among many so im done have never installed sadly thats just one problem among many so cant get used to expect or avg even work on.
My luck everything will downloading those and safer than windows only programs is probably best way for me obviously ive only.
